Chairman's Message
It is an honor to serve as Chairman of our Association in the up-coming session 2024 to 2025. I feel great responsibility to follow the excellent and unwavering leadership of our Immediate Past Chairman, Ir Clayton Y K Chan, to ensure AGS(HK) remains true to it’s aims and objectives championing best practice in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering. I would like to acknowledge the energy, passion and selfless contributions of our Executive Committee & Co-opt Members making AGS(HK) such a vibrant and active Association. Thanks also to all our Member Organisations and their staff for your proactive participation in AGS(HK) activities.
Active participation by AGS(HK) members enables our Association to remain relevant and influential across the breadth of disciplines covered by our working groups, namely Geoenvironmental, Ground Investigation and Instrumentation, AGS Data Format & BIM, Natural Terrain and Landslide Hazards, Reclamation, Foundation Works, and Tunnel Cavern & Underground Space. AGS(HK) will continue to act as an industry platform developing more AGS Guidelines to promote industry best practice.
AGS(HK) promotes industry knowledge sharing and continuing professional development through our monthly webinars, seminars and site visits. Post pandemic, I also hope AGS(HK) can hold more networking and social events to foster cameraderie amongst our geotechnical and geo-environmental profession and provide a space to raise relevant issues and topics so that AGS(HK) steers itself in line with the interests of our industry profession. I look forward to seeing you all at our many upcoming and planned events!
AGS(HK) will continue it’s full support and encouragement of the next generation of geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineers through the AGS(HK) scholarships amongst local Hong Kong universities as well as the AGS(HK) Final Year Project Competition encouraging and recognising geotechnical and geo-environmental research excellence and attracting talent into our profession.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone for your continued support to the Association.
