AGS(HK) Technical Visit to Central Kowloon Route – Kai Tak West

Highlights :

In the project, dual 3-lane trunk road across central Kowloon is proposed linking the West Kowloon and the proposed Kai Tak Development (KTD) and connecting the West Kowloon Highway at Yau Ma Tei Interchange and the future Trunk Road T2 at KTD in order to fulfill the future need for traffic capacity across central Kowloon. Kai Tak West (KTW) is 1 of the 8 Contracts under the Central Kowloon Route (CKR). The main work of KTW includes the construction of tunnels under the seabed of Kowloon Bay and at Ma Tau Kok, and depressed roads and underpass at KTD.

In this visit, participants can have an opportunity to get a close up view on the geotechnical works in the project and discuss the construction method with the operation team.


Safety Requirements :

Participants should wear safety boot and bring their own safety hard hat and reflective vest. All attendees should also hold a valid safety Green Card or HKIE Member Card.

Book prize is open to all young attendants (under 35 years old) for the submission of a good quality report (max. 500 words) on this event. Book  Prize  reward  comprises  a book "Geology of Site Investigation Boreholes in Hong Kong"  by  Chris  Fletcher  and book coupon HK$300.


Registration :

The number of participants is strictly limited. Priority will be given to members of the AGS(HK). The number of attendees will be limited to 25 and the applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Successful applicants will be informed about 1 week before the event.
