Ground Investigation and Instrumentation
The group has been established in a long history in the Association, and it started in the ground investigation field at the beginning, and it gradually extended to cover the instrumentation field. Its objectives comprise of the following issues:
To provide the Technical Note Series of GIGs that share knowledge, techniques, and to provide guidelines of good practices on ground investigation and instrumentation fields. The publications also cover the aspects of planning, procurement, contract documentation and design.
To organize forums and CPD seminars for exchange of information and experience, and to promote best practices on the issues related to Ground Investigation and Instrumentation.
To continually explore and keep abreast of the newly developing techniques and practices in the areas.
To closely observe the enactment of related mandatory regulations from the Government of HKSAR, and the practices and guidelines from the different Governmental Departments. The group will provide corresponding responses and comments on the issues to the Government if necessary.
To closely liaise with the other professional groups like HKIE, IOM3, Geological Society of Hong Kong, Regional Group of Geological Society of London, Site Investigation Committee of HKCA and others professional and practicing bodies to promote best ethical, professional and social practices.
